On a chart in the style of 19th century scientific didactics we find "acted" and digitally collaged sea creatures. The darkly luminous "sea" is a virtual space of inexhaustible productive procreative power: for entities such as "Dante's Cage", "Portuguese Lotus" or "Neptune's Spine" and countless as yet uncreated, "un-acted" ones that emerge from the depths and disappear into them again. The virtual sea, place of “humanimality”, fluidity, infinity, depth, place of fusion of human and animal entities.

The habitat of many of these moving animal sculptures is the medium of water: the sea in "Dante's cage", but also artificial waters in "Medusa", "Diatom fiction" or "Liquid money". It is the liquid and watery as the primordial source of all being, not only of the natural but also of the artificial.

Bakterien, Fische, Quallen, Diatomeen, Seepferdchen, Algen, Korallen, Seesterne, Muscheln werden nur im weitesten Sinn „imitiert“. Es gilt, eine Art formales Analogon zu natürlichen Formen und Bewegungsmustern zu schaffen, das viel weniger ein „so“ als vielmehr ein „so wie“ sein soll.

Mein Lieblingsmodell ist der hawaiianische Zergtintenfisch Euprymna scolopes mit seinen bakteriellen Symbionten, Vibrio fischeri, die entscheidend für die Herausbildung seiner Bauchtasche sind. Diese wiederum beherbergt lumineszente Bakterien, sodass der jagende Tintenfisch für seine Beute in dunklen Nächten von unten wie ein Sternenhimmel aussieht und in hellen Mondnächten keinen Schatten zu werfen scheint.
